Nice Work If You Can Get It – Upstairs at the Gatehouse, London. 2018-19

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT,

SENATOR MAXWELL EVERGREEN

Winner of two Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards, this screwball comedy pokes fun at the Prohibition era in a clash of elegant socialites and ridiculously incompetent bootleggers, all set to the glorious songs of George and Ira Gershwin.

Reviews:

the piece is very funny and these actors know exactly how to time the lines to maximise the impact. My favourite moment is one female character accusing a male one of making love on a beach. “I’ve never made love on a beach” he declares hotly. “That’s true but you tried” she shoots back’.
